Getting the Job That You've Always Wanted
Author: Chad Henning Date: July 19, 2010 Have you found that you're not where you would like to be as far as a career path is concerned. Are you sick of watching those around you have the things that you want? This happens to almost all of us when we are first starting out but even those of us who are older at times. You need to make yourself stand out from the crowd in a way that you never thought was possible. Having a college education simply is not enough these days and I know that you will be able to do everything that is required to make yourself appear to be a better choice then the next most qualified applicant. One of the first things you need to do is to focus hard on what you've learned or if your currently still in school you need to pay attention as much as possible. There are many people who leave school not knowing enough about what they learned in their first few years and that is a big problem. If your in your final year of school don't think that your taking a step back by going back and reviewing what you learned in your first year. This will give you the edge that you need and you will not be rusty if any type of testing is required. Also, You should be shooting for a 4.0 that makes a big difference, when they ask your GPA you want them to say Wow! that's the one who worked the hardest in school and that's the one that should probably work the hardest for us at this company. I'm a big believer in attitude and when you walk into an interview with a positive and progressive attitude you set the mood and you tell them where your going in life. You tell them where your going to lead them if they put you in control and you tell them where you should start off. Trust me, you don't want to be stuck at the bottom of the company for too long and you will be happy that you went into this with the right mindset and you told them what your about right from the start. Don't be cocky! never be cocky that will make lead them to believe you may not be able to be controlled and it's not a good thing. Self confidence you must truly believe that you are the right one for the job and you also may need to do all the extra studying beyond school that makes you fell that your the best person for the job. School is not enough and I can't stress this enough, If you think that all you need to learn is at school then you will not be the right person for the job. Learning more and more is what will push you beyond the next guy and make you somebody that can be relied upon when the going gets tough and the people with only a college education don't have the answers. In school you basically have a couple books that you study over the course of a semester in life you can read many books a week and learn various new ideas. Reading a lot will give you the edge that is necessary to answer the tough questions and be a problem solver. Your going to need to seek out the right company for you and be persistent, maybe they decline you at first because maybe at that time you weren't the right person for the job but if you keep at them eventually a space will open up and you will be the one they call upon. You need to pick the right company because your goal is to stick with whatever company you end up with. This is going to take some self control because most likely you will get some offers along the way but if you take them you could potentially stick yourself with the wrong future and the wrong career path. Don't be the one who just simply settled on something you are better than that and you deserve more. I believe in you and you believe in yourself and together we are going to take you to the next level.
